Callum Hudson-Odoi reveals Nuno quality which helped Nottingham Forest stun Liverpool
Callum Hudson-Odoi credited Nuno's role as manager in the lead up to Nottingham Forest's stunning 1-0 victory over title contenders Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday. Hudson-Odoi came off the bench in the second half to fire a superb winner in front of the travelling supporters to seal the club's win on the half of Merseyside in 55 years.
The former Chelsea winger ensured victory followed the draws with Wolves and Bournemouth in the opening stages of this season, points which sandwiched the other away victory over newly promoted Southampton. It's early days, but Forest found themselves in fifth on Saturday night.
It's an eye catching start to the season, no doubt, and Hudson-Odoi explained that boss Nuno - who'll be approaching a year in charge at the City Ground at the end of 2024 - has invested faith in the players - so much so that if they're not selected, they're readying themselves to make an impact as a substitute, exactly as Hudson-Odoi did.
There is a confidence throughout the squad, which means they feel as though they can emerge victorious from any game, at any ground - as they appropriately demonstrated against Arne Slot's side, who had won all three of their previous league games this season.
"The manager gives us big belief, and we go into every game confident," he told MOTD. "Here, I didn't start, but I wasn't angry or disappointed. In my head I just knew if I came on the pitch I'd have to make an impact and do what I can to help the team to win, which obviously I did. I'm buzzing, we're all buzzing and we keep going next week."
