The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have shared an unseen photo of their youngest child, Prince Louis, to thank those who sent well-wishes for his birthday in April.

They sent a thank you card featuring the new photo on the front, to show their appreciation for messages received to mark his 2nd birthday.

A royal fan account, which is based in Germany, shared the special post on Instagram, revealing the message: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge appreciated your kind thought in writing to Prince Louis as you did on the occasion of his second birthday.”

Kate previously shared pictures of her son earlier this year to mark his birthday. The new image appears to have been taken on the same day.

The Cambridge family enjoyed a low-key family holiday this weekend, as they visited the Isles of Scilly, with their three children - Prince George, 7, Princess Charlotte, 5, and two-year-old Prince Louis.

It was a particularly special trip for the duke, Prince William, as it was a location he frequented with his brother Prince Harry during their childhood, with their parents Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana.

The trip was one of the first family holidays the Cambridges have taken together since they began quarantining at the Amner Hall estate at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.
