Thousands of people across Cambridgeshire will still be entitled for Winter Fuel Payments after the benefit became means tested. The payment, worth £200 or £300 depending on age, was previously available for all pensioners.

However the new Labour government announced this would be axed, meaning millions will now miss out. The poorest pensioners will still be eligible for the payments however.

These include people who get Pension Credit. The government believes around 880,000 people across the UK who may be eligible who are not claiming it.
