Ofsted has awarded a Peterborough nursery an 'outstanding' rating, and described the setting as one where "all children thrive". Stars Day Nursery in Bushfield, next to Ortongate Shopping Centre, was handed the rating in a report published on Friday (August 23), based on a July inspection.

The inspectorate said: "Children flourish in this welcoming nursery. They develop warm and trusting relationships with staff members who know them incredibly well.

"Children are inquisitive and enjoy a wealth of opportunity to explore. Staff are enthusiastic and engage in activities, helping children to make connections in their learning.

"Staff are always on hand to provide just the right amount of support to allow children to successfully test out their ideas."

The report also pointed to the success of the nursery's "exceptionally strong" leadership and management. The manager is described as being "extremely focused on improving outcomes for all children".

The nursery was awarded with 'outstanding', the highest rating, in every category assessed: education quality, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management.

Mohammed Younis OBE, CEO of nursery provider Stars Day Nurseries, said: "We are thrilled to have received an ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted – a true reflection of the hard work, dedication and passion of our managers, Sallyann and Sophie, and their incredible team.

"Their unwavering commitment to providing children with the best start, prioritising learning and wellbeing, and fostering a safe, nurturing environment makes me incredibly proud. This achievement adds to us now having nine 'outstanding' Ofsted ratings across our group of fifteen nurseries, with our other settings holding a 'good' Ofsted rating and one awaiting inspection later this year."

The nursery looked after 21 children aged up to four years old at the time of the inspection, and employed 11 members of childcare staff. It has 54 places and provides funded education.
