A Cambridgeshire town centre road will be shut for five overnight closures from Monday, September 23. Broad Street, March, will be closed to traffic each evening.

The closure will be in place from 8pm each night. The road is then scheduled to reopen at 6am - with the final closure starting on the evening of Friday, September 27.

Fenland District Council said temporary closure is needed to minimise disruption while the resurfacing of Broad Street is carried out. There will also be a new mini roundabout surface added to the road.

There will be a diversion in place every evening during the closure, which will be sign posted around the area. The work may be delayed by bad weather or other factors.

Fenland District Council hopes the transformation of Broad Street will 'improve traffic flow, reduce congestion and create a more open, social, and pedestrian-friendly town centre.'

The resurfacing of the road is a part of the larger £8.4million regeneration project happening in March that started in June 2023. Other improvements to the area have included repaving work and the addition of a new zebra crossing.
