CambridgeshireLive is campaigning with Cambridge City Foodbank this winter to make Christmas a happier time in the local community. We will highlight each week the many simple ways you can donate or help out this winter and beyond.

The Foodbank said it is seeing the highest level of need for its support in its 14-year history. The organisation has provided almost 17,500 food parcels this year, an 18 percent increase from the previous 12 months.

The charity has shared its most needed items for special Christmas dinners and treats here as well as more details on its Christmas Hamper Appeal here.

The Hamper Appeal, in its tenth year, invites individuals, organisations and businesses to pledge to donate a hamper. It can hold Christmas treats, hygiene items and essential food. They will be passed out to those in need across the city over the festive period.

Foodbank has said there is a drastic need this year and most of its visitors are requiring long-term support rather than single visits.

It's easy to give back with the Foodbank, and it can make such a difference in someone's life. The Foodbank supports Cambridge all year round so you can learn more about how to get involved in the long term here.
