Cambuslang shopkeeper 'frightened' after man threatens to 'throw a substance' during robbery

Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Cambuslang which left a shopkeeper 'frightened'.

The incident happened on Glebe Place at around 4.45pm on Saturday, November 9, when a man entered the premises and asked for cigarettes - he claimed to have forgotten money and shortly left.

He then went back in, demanded money, and threatened to throw a substance at the shop worker before leaving with a sum of cash from the till.

We previously reported that police had locked down a Usave store on Glebe Place late Saturday evening, with blue tape around the premises and officers standing by.

The man is described as white, around 5ft 3inches and had blonde facial stubble. He was wearing a green jacket pulled up to cover part of his face, black trousers and grey trainers.

Detective Constable Karen Hay said: “Fortunately the shop worker was not injured but left very frightened by what happened.

“We are appealing anyone who saw the man or knows where he went or where he might be to get in touch.”
