Yahoo News Camila Cabello Looks Like a Goth Bride in a transparent Black Gown at the 2024 MTV VMAs
After spending some time at New York Fashion Week, Camila Cabello made a quick trip out of the city to attend Wednesday’s MTV VMAs ceremony in Elmont, New York. The star channeled her inner gothic bride, wearing a transparent black lace gown by Tony Ward Couture with a coordinating veil on the red carpet. To complete the look, she ditched her platinum hair and returned to her signature deep brunette locks. She layered a few cross necklaces to go with the dress as well.
Cabello is performing this evening, in a lineup that includes her ex-boyfriend Shawn Mendes and his ex Sabrina Carpenter. The trio’s attendance may or may not create a little intrigue during the show. Cabello, for her part, recently released “can friends kiss?” which some fans saw as her perspective on the alleged past love triangle between them. Carpenter has been dating Barry Keoghan, while Cabello and Mendes are both single after briefly reconciling last year.
Cabello is also a nominee, up for two VMAs: Best Pop Artist and Best Trending Video (“I LUV IT,” featuring Playboi Carti).
In June, Cabello spoke to Vogue about her new album, C, XOXO. “It’s a kind of heightened version of me,” she admitted. “It’s when I’m going into a meeting, or before I do a show, and me and my dancers listen to very hype music, rap music—anything that makes us feel cocky and confident. I’ve always listened to other artists for that feeling. And it’s really cool that I’ve been able to get to a place where I feel like I can generate it authentically in myself without it feeling forced.”
She added that she avoided using love as a big inspiration for the album, saying, “I wanted to challenge myself to make songs that were not about a romantic interest—that were about a place, or about my friends, or about a night out.”
