On Monday, the "Havana" singer earned praise after sharing a lengthy message about "the importance of rest" to Instagram. According to the 24-year-old, the need to prioritize rest and relaxation was one the "biggest things" she's learned during COVID.

"Before [the pandemic] I literally had no choice but to stop and stand still," Cabello told her more than 55.4 million followers. "I didn’t know what work-life balance was."

Cabello admitted that she initially felt "guilty" about not working during quarantine because she wasn't feeling "productive."

"At the same time, right before we were forced to quarantine I was completely burnt out and felt like I couldn’t do this career anymore," she said. "Then I started seeing how after resting during that period, cultivating new hobbies, prioritizing my mental health, my friendships and relationships, making time for exercise, and also enjoying being lazy again."

During her downtime, she started to feel "inspired, passionate and, way more creative." The experience taught her that prioritizing rest is crucial to ensuring she can continue to remain healthy, both physically and mentally.

"Nowadays, I never feel guilty about making time for time off because I know that without rest, and time for joy, laziness, and play, I will feel burnt out, stressed, sad, and exhausted," she continued. "I won’t be able to do the work I want to put out into the world."

The former Fifth Harmony songstress concluded by urging her followers to ensure they prioritize their wellbeing.

"We are not robots and our brains are not computers," she said. "For the sake of our health and happiness during our brief time here on earth, the societal structures of work and how it relates to an individual’s mental health need an upgrade. I'm gonna go back to doing nothing today."

Fans praised the "Never Be The Same" singer and thanked her for the excellent advice.

"Thank you so much for sharing this," one person commented. "As a self-proclaimed workaholic, I can confirm that I often prioritize my career and productivity levels over everything else, and always pay the ultimate price SMH."

"Beautifully said," someone else commented. "You are such a light."

"Love this. You're so right, and this was so inspiring." added another.
