'Severed Limbs' Porn Star 'Flees To France'

Porn Star Arrested Over Body Parts Murder

Police believe the porn actor wanted in Canada after a human hand was found in the post and a foot sent to a political party may have already fled to France.

Luka Magnotta is suspected of killing and dismembering a young man at a flat in Montreal and sending body parts to political party headquarters.

A spokesperson for the Montreal police told the Globe and Mail newspaper that they "have good reasons to believe that he has left the country".

It is thought he flew to France at the weekend and he is reported to now be subject of an Interpol search.

Police have also confirmed that the murder appears to have been recorded on video.

A torso was found in a suitcase in a pile of rubbish near that Montreal flat, a foot and a hand were posted to two political party headquarters.

The first package sent was partly opened by the receptionist at the Conservative office in Ottawa who called the police after seeing blood stains.

Police believe there could still be other packages in the postal system.

Neighbours describe the smell drifting from Apartment 208 as like that of bad meat and are shocked that the "nice guy" who lived there is now the subject of an international manhunt.

Police commander Ian Lafreniere told reporters: "For most of the officers that have been there all night, this is a crime scene they've never seen in their life, in their career, so yes, I can consider that as a horrible crime."

From information gathered at the scene, police say they believe the victim knew his killer but they have not yet been able to establish the identity of the man killed in Apartment 208.

Magnotta, also known as Eric Clinton Newman or Vladimir Romanov, had been renting the apartment in a working class neighbourhood for four months.

Building manager Eric Schorer said there were never any complaints about him and that he told neighbours he had a child living in the area and was working as a carer.

Police say Magnotta had no criminal record but, for two years, he has been notorious among animal rights campaigners for posting videos of pets being tortured.
