Canadian Pacific Freight Train Cars Derail in Chicago Area

A freight train derailed in Franklin Park, Illinois — in the Chicago area — on Sunday, March 26.

Footage by Chicago resident Melissa Brand shows the train screeching to a halt before two train cars come either fully or partially off the tracks.

The train derailed on the Milwaukee District West Line and belonged to Canadian Pacific Railway (CP), local media reported, citing an email conversation with CP staff.

One of the derailed cars was carrying wheat, and the other was empty, the Chicago Sun-Times said. There were no injuries reported, and the derailment and clearance caused a 15-minute delay to local services. Credit: Melissa Brand via Storyful
