Jane Marczewski, also known as Nightbirde, is a three-time cancer survivor, who, currently, only has a two percent chance of survival. Her story and moving performance on Tuesday had all four judges in the feels. shared, "You know, it's funny, because singers come on, and I think about authenticity, you know, when you feel it, when it moves you. That felt like the most authentic thing I've heard this season."
Most impressed was , who shared, "Your voice is stunning. Absolutely stunning, and I totally agree with what Howie said, you know, about authenticity. There was something about that song after the way you just almost casually told us what you're going through, and, oh, you know."
"You can't wait until life isn't hard anymore before you decide to be happy," said Jane wisely. Simon then did a little fakeout, saying “I’m not going to give you a yes -- I’m going to give you something else!” With that, he hit the Golden Buzzer, as the overjoyed and overwhelmed Marczewski dropped to her knees, sobbing, and Simon went onstage to embrace her.
“I have a 2 percent chance of survival, but 2 percent is not zero percent,” Nightbirde told AGT host backstage after her audition. “Two percent is something, and I wish people knew how amazing it is.” Meanwhile, a still-awestruck Simon sat in his judging chair, sighing, “God, that really got to me.”
