Cancer-stricken wife blasts Richard Keys over affair

Safe to say that former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys isn’t Britain’s most popular man this morning.

The hirsute 59-year-old star has been roundly condemned after it emerged he’s been having an affair with 27-year-old lawyer Lucie Rose – while his wife Julia has been battling thyroid cancer.

“It’s disgusting what Richard and Lucie have done to me,” 56-year-old Julie told The Sunday Mirror. “What they have put me through and knowing about my condition. It’s not only me but also the rest of my family, including my son Joshua and my daughter.

It’s understood that Keys and Julia were introduced to Lucie by their daughter Jemma on the social scene in Qatar, where the sports presenter works for English language sports network BeIN.

“Yes, I do blame Lucie because she came into our lives and I thought she was our friend out there,” Julia contined. “I have instigated divorce proceedings. He has been begging me to give him another chance and said he has no intention of seeing her.”

Keys famously lost his job at Sky Sports when he was caught making sexist comments about female match official Sian Massey with co-presenter Andy Gray.

In another caveman-like gaffe, the pundit asked a shocked Jamie Redknapp “did you smash it?” while referring to the one-time Liverpool player’s ex-girlfriend.

Keys responded to the claims with a tweet claiming there are “many inaccuracies” in the reporting and thanking people for their “mixed bag” of reactions.

In a further twist, Keys could face 15 years in jail or lashes if he’s proven to have committed adultery with Lucie. Sex outside marriage in Qatar is illegal, and the law states that the same penalty can apply to a woman “who accepts such copulation knowing it is prohibited.”

What Julia thinks about that isn’t clear at this stage.
