Cannes 2019 red carpet: Margot Robbie, Elle Fanning and Aishwarya Rai lead the film festival's best dressed

Three things are always guaranteed at Cannes Film Festival: sunshine, stars and showstopping glamour.

Celebrities and their stylists took over the glamorous Côte d'Azur for the 72nd annual festival, which saw two weeks of screenings, star-studded premieres and endless elegant outfits.

The first evening saw the much-anticipated premiere of the zombie thriller The Dead Don't Die bring out a plethora of celebrities and chic designer ensembles.

Selena Gomez made a triumphant Cannes debut and stunned in a white Louis Vuitton two-set designed by Nicolas Ghesquière​, which comprised of a crop top and quilted skirt with high-leg slit.​

The screening of Rocketman, a film about Sir Elton John's breakthrough years, saw lashings of glitter and glamour hit the red carpet.

Priyanka Chopra dazzled in a gown by Roberto Cavalli, Eva Longoria donned a gold creation by Cristina Ottaviano and Julianne Moore went for a sparkly metallic design by Givenchy.

Elle Fanning was the style star to watch this year. The 21-year-old was the youngest member on the prestigious Cannes Jury, which is made up of nine film heavyweights each year.

The actress made a dramatic entrance during her first red carpet, dazzling in a peach caped gown with floral applique by Gucci, before exuding flower power in a sweeping Valentino gown for the Les Miserables screening and then Parisian chic in a Dior Haute Couture ivory silk organza shirt, tulle skirt and raffia hat for the premiere of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Deepika Padukone also been turned heads this year. The Indian actress made quite the entrance at the Pain and Glory premiere in the biggest gown to grace the Cannes red carpet in 2019. The dramatic lime green dress, custom made by Giambattista Valli, featured layer upon layer of tulle, bow detail and a seriously long train.
