The world is a bit of an odd place at the moment, but never fear! Captain Marvel will soon be here to save us all – or at least to distract us for a little while.

Ahead of the release of Marvel's first female superhero-led epic, Captain Marvel has given fans a fresh look at some of its key cast members in a set of brand new character posters.

As well as giving us another glimpse at established, and expected, characters – hello, Carol Danvers and Nick Fury – the posters also introduce us to a few mysterious figures, too.

In order, the posters show Brie Larson's Captain Marvel, Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury, Jude Law as who we can only assume is Mar-Vell, Gemma Chan's Minn-Erva, Lashana Lynch's Maria Rambeau, Annette Bening's as-yet-unknown character, Djimon Hounsou's Korath, and Ben Mendelsohn's Skrull leader Talos in his equally menacing human form.

The most important character of all, though? Goose the cat, of course.

Meanwhile, Samuel L Jackson has been teasing fans with details of his and Brie Larson's onscreen relationship in the movie, promising a "very genuine" rapport between their characters.

"We're strangers when you meet us [in Captain Marvel]. But the creation of our relationship in that movie is very genuine and very honest," he explained to Entertainment Tonight.

"By the end of it, you really think these two people care about each other."

Captain Marvel will arrive in cinemas on March 8, 2019 in the UK and the US.
