A car was abandoned outside a high school following a police chase.

Images show the vehicle outside Witton Park Academy on Buncer Lane in Blackburn at around 11.30pm on Monday (January 23).

It is thought the vehicle had been spotted by police earlier that evening, driving erratically.

Following a pursuit, the car, which had a damaged back tyre, came to a stop on Buncer Lane before the occupants got out and tried to run from officers.

It is believed one man ran into the woods and one into the grounds of Witton Park Academy before the police dogs were deployed and they were apprehended.

Around eight police vehicles were on scene at the height of the incident, an onlooker said.

The vehicle was recovered around 12.30am.

Lancashire Police have been contacted for comment.
