Car crashes into Hobby Lobby store, per Niles police

A car driven by an 85-year-old woman crashed into an arts and crafts store on Dempster Street on Thursday morning, according to Niles Police.

Niles Police responded to the crash on Thursday at 11:22 a.m. at the Hobby Lobby at 7229 W. Dempster St. Police said a Nissan Altima was partially in the store when it crashed into the north wall. Police did not report any injuries.

Inspectors from the Niles Community Development Department determined the crash did not compromise the building’s structural integrity, and the business was allowed to remain open.

Police said the cause of the accident was driver error and that no citations were issued because the crash occurred on private property.
