Car crashes into Iceland store in Smethwick leading to road being closed off
A car has crashed into an Iceland store in the Black Country leading to a road being closed off. The crash happened just before 8pm on Monday (November 25).
Video footage shows a car smashed through the window at the front of the shop and is lodged in the shop. An ambulance is outside the shop, and two fire engines are further along the road, the first by the Paddy Power shop.
Footage shows a crowd gathered outside Aldi, watching on as debris can be seen on the pavement. And a police cordon is in place closing off the road near the incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene with police, ambulance and fire service crews attending. A spokeswoman for West Midlands Fire Service said: “We were called at 7.57pm and sent two fire engines, one from Smethwick and one from Ladywood, They are still there. Police are controlling the cordons.”
Traffic information service Inrix has said the A4030 Bearwood Road is closed in both directions ‘due to obstruction on the road’. It is closed from the A456 Hagley Road to the south and up to B4182 Sandon Road.
Cllr Jennifer Hemmingway, Sandwell Council’s Abbey ward representative, told people to avoid the Bearwood Road high street area. She said: “I have reached out to West Midlands Police to find out what has gone on.
“The high street is closed now. I would everybody to avoid the area.” It is not known if anyone was injured. BirminghamLive will contact West Midlands Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service early on Tuesday for an update.
