Car flips on roof in Edinburgh horror crash as emergency crews scrambled to scene
A car has flipped on its roof in a horror smash in Edinburgh's west end. Emergency services raced to Coates Gardens shortly before noon today.
Police, paramedics, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crews were scrambled to the scene. Cops locked down Haymarket Terrace and Coates Gardens with motorists urged to avoid the area.
Shocking photos from the scene show a white MG SUV flipped on its roof in the middle of the road. A white Mercedes parked on the side of the road was left with a massive dent and scrapes along its side.

A huge queue of traffic built up around Haymarket Terrace, with lines of buses backing up from the police cordon. Diversions have since been put in place..
It is not yet known if anyone has been injured in the horror crash.
One eye-witness told Edinburgh Live: "The scene has gathered quite a few onlookers. The car is completely upside down and a nearby parked car has a sizeable dent. Bus routes have been diverted from the accident and several are queues on either side of Haymarket Terrace."
Lothian Buses have stated on its website: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Haymarket Terrace and are instead diverted via Murrayfield Road, Ravelston Dykes, Queensferry Terrace, Queensferry Road, Queensferry St in both directions until further notice. Due to increased traffic on this diversion buses are also subject to delays."
Edin Travel on X said: "Haymarket Terrace is closed BOTH ways. Haymarket Terrace is currently closed both ways at Coates Gardens due to an overturned car. Traffic is very heavy in the area."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 11.25am on Wednesday, 25 September 2024 we were called to a report of two-vehicle collision on Haymarket Terrace. Emergency services are in attendance and recovery has been arranged."
