Car gets stuck on top of lamppost in Co Down as driver set to appear in court
A driver is set to appear in court after a car was left stuck on top of a lamppost following a collision in Newcastle.
The incident took place in the Co Down town in recent days with officers discovering a Mercedes on top of a piece of street furniture while on patrol.
No one was seriously injured following the collision, however, the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and disorderly behaviour.

Police have said that they can expect a date in court soon.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Any of last weekend's poor driving on the range we can forgive, but this type of driving will never be tolerated!
"Police in Newcastle came across the vehicle whilst on patrol. Thankfully no one was seriously injured.
"The driver of the vehicle was arrested for dangerous driving, driving whilt unfit through drink or drugs and disorderly behaviour. They can expect a day in court soon."
