A major Edinburgh road is experiencing huge tailbacks following a police incident, with buses being diverted from the scene.

Shortly before 1pm on Thursday, November 21, police were called to reports of a car crash on Queensferry Road near Parkgrove Street, with the road sealed off as a result.

One lane has since reopened as images from the scene show a severely damaged vehicle overturned on the pavement next to a car transporter with several police cars and ambulances at the scene.

Buses, including Lothian service 43, have been forced to divert in the meantime. An alert on the Lothian app says: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Queensferry Road at Parkgrove and are instead diverted via Drum Brae North, Drum Brae Drive and Clermiston Road North in both directions until further notice."
