Car overturns after smashing into house with emergency services at scene
Startling images show the aftermath of a car smashing into a house before overturning. The vehicle appears to be a smaller dark-coloured car, and was pictured on its back with its lights still on.
The crash happened on Rochdale Road near to the junction of White Moss Road. In the images there are also a number of emergency vehicles present at the scene.
One person described hearing a "big bang" as they were passing by, shortly before emergency services swarmed the area. Ambulances, police cars, and fire and rescue services were all present at the scene on Saturday evening.
An eyewitness told the Manchester Evening News: "I was about to turn to Rochdale Road and I’ve heard big bang, and I saw a car on the side seen that someone try to help and get somebody out of the car. They added: "In few seconds there were two ambulance on the accident."
They described that "somebody drove into a house". The exact extent of the damage to the car and the house is not clear.
Police cars could be seen stationed behind the vehicle lying on its back. Traffic appeared to be able to pass by the incident.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 7.30pm on Saturday 25 January, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Rochdale Road, Manchester.
“One fire engine from Philips Park station quickly attended the incident, which involved a car crashing in to a garden wall and overturning. Firefighters helped right the vehicle and make the area safe before handing the scene over to Greater Manchester Police. Fire crews were in attendance for just over an hour.”
