Emergency services in Haifa, Israel, rescued a car that became trapped in floodwater on January 8, as a winter storm battered the country, local media reported.

In the northern coastal city Nahariya, Haaretz reported that a 38-year-old man drowned after he succeeded in helping three members of a family escape their vehicle before the current swept him away.
