A car has been seized after officers found a learner driver at the wheel.
Police say that a number of people contacted them after seeing the Audi being driven in an anti-social manner around Nelson.
When police pulled the driver over, they tried to provide false details, but when the police managed to find out who he really was, it was discovered he had a provisional licence and no insurance.
Officers say they have seized the vehicle and it will be returned to the hire or finance company from which it came.
A spokesperson for the police said: "This vehicle was reported by various members of the public for driving in an anti-social manner around Nelson.
"It was intercepted and the driver tried to provide false details. When his true details were obtained he only has a provisional license and no insurance.
"The vehicle has been seized and as it's a hire vehicle will only be returned to the hire company or if finance outstanding to the finance."
