Car Trapped in Deep Snow After Intense Winter Weather Pummels Fairbanks

Residents of Fairbanks, Alaska, woke to heavy snowfall on the morning of Wednesday, December 29, amid record-breaking winter weather.

The storm impacting Fairbanks capped what is now the city’s wettest December on record, according to the National Weather Service, with wind gusts reaching up to 45 mph.

Elsewhere in the state, an observation site at Denali National Park received 74.5 inches of snow during December, as of Wednesday — a new record.
