Car wrecked after 'drunk driver' crash in Edinburgh as police make arrest

An alleged drunk driver has been arrested following a horror crash in Edinburgh that left a car wrecked.

Pictures shared online by road cops show the aftermath of the one-vehicle smash on Dalkeith Road yesterday.

A shocking image from the scene shows debris strewn across the road, with the front of the black car completely mangled.

Parts of the bumper are lying on the roadside, while an ambulance can be seen in the background but police say the driver had a lucky escape with no serious injuries.

The force confirmed that the driver failed a breathalyser test at the side of the road and has since been arrested.

They are now facing a driving ban upon conviction.

A post on Police Scotland Lothians & Scottish Borders reads: "#EdinburghRP attended this one car collision on Dalkeith Road yesterday. Luckily there was no serious injury, however the driver of this vehicle was arrested for failing the roadside breath test!

"The driver now faces disqualification upon conviction."
