TOWIE could be getting a new full-time recruit, as Cara de la Hoyde – of Love Island fame – has reportedly been lined up for a promotion to the main cast.
De la Hoyde has appeared in a few episodes of late, but after her split with Nathan Massey, rumours suggest that bosses behind the show want to take advantage of her popularity and bring her on as a regular (via The Sun).
Digital Spy has reached out to reps for TOWIE and de la Hoyde for comment.
If the speculation is true, it's just as well because it comes not long after Kate Wright confirmed she was leaving the show.
Kate, who first joined two years ago in 2015, decided to take "an extended break" from the programme, with no return date decided.
"Kate has informed producers that she may take an extended break after filming for this series wraps," a statement from TOWIE read.
"We fully support this decision and will keep in close contact with Kate so we can mutually decide if and when a return is appropriate. We wish her well in her future projects."
Nathan admitted to Tommy Mallet in an episode earlier this week that his romance with Cara was "completely over".
"We were just under each other's feet too much," he said. "The littlest thing would spark a massive argument."
No doubt if Cara does join the main cast, she'll be asked to talk about where that relationship went wrong.
TOWIE airs on ITVBe.
