Cards Against Humanity is seeking new writers to come up with controversial card pairings for its “party game for horrible people”.

The chosen few will become “remote contributors” and earn $40, around £31, per hour while working from home.

An advert on the game’s site said: “Cards Against Humanity is looking for new writers. If your cards are solid, you’ll join our pool of remote contributors and make $40/hr writing poop jokes as needed — which is “sometimes.”

“We strongly encourage applicants from historically marginalized communities to apply, particularly people of color, immigrants, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

“Also looking for hot single dads. Good luck. We love you.”

Tips from Cards Against Humanity

White card advice:

  • Sharp, punchy cards that show and don't tell.

  • Cards that come alive in the black cards - each white card is only half the joke.

  • Cards with a distinct voice, perspective, or syntax.

Black card advice:

  • The “blank” should not come after an adjective or article.

  • The “blank” generally works best after a preposition (for, with, of, to) or a verb.

  • The “blank” generally hits hardest towards the end of the sentence, like a punchline.

Cards Against Humanity is played by someone choosing a black card which has a question on it and then inviting people to answer that with a white card from the deck.

Once the cards are all put forward the person who asked the question chooses the one they deem the funniest.

On its site, the game is described as: “A party game for horrible people.

“Unlike most of the party games you've played before, Cards Against Humanity is as despicable and awkward as you and your friends.

“The game is simple. Each round, one player asks a question from a black card, and everyone else answers with their funniest white card."

A deck costs £25 from the official site.

Applicants looking to become writers are being asked to submit 15 ideas for white cards and five for black cards.

Entries are due by Friday, August 31, and can be made at submissions.cardsagainsthumanity.com.
