Care home choir with members as old as 96 sing to their families in poignant performance
This was the lovely moment a choir with members as old as 96 performed to their families last weekend.
Based at the Lindsey Hall Care Home in Clee Road, Cleethorpes, the Residents' Choir was launched in December 2022 as a way to keep residents' minds and bodies active and help their mental health and wellbeing.
On Saturday, September 7, a special performance was held at the care home for the residents' families and other residents to enjoy, with the choir singing hits like 'Oh What a Beautiful Morning' and 'Let It Be' by The Beatles.

Activities Co-ordinator at Lindsey Hall Care Home, Donna Clarke, said she and the team are "so proud" of the residents following the performance - the fifth since the choir first launched.
She told Grimsby Live: "This is our fifth performance they’ve done for families and friends since we set up in December 2022, and each time they gain more confidence and enjoyment from it.
"They all gather to rehearse once a week alongside our activities team, and comment how they 'can’t sing' or 'can’t be part of a choir', but we tell them to come along because they love to be together and enjoy singing.
"Singing and music in general is so good for the mental health and wellbeing of people and it’s so good to see them all feeling good when they come together to sing. Some of the residents have dementia and the music and singing is so beneficial for them.
"Our activities team work hard to provide residents with enriched, varied and person-centred activities to keep their minds and bodies active and stimulated.
"We’ve sadly lost a few choir members but seem to always gain more after we put on a performance and families, friends and fellow residents love watching them sing.
"Our choir is now going to be working on our Christmas performance - we're so proud of them all."
