Careless motorist caught driving down hard shoulder in Somerset

A careless driver who was spotted committing multiple offences across a number of days has been hit with a hefty fine and a driving ban. The VW driver was caught driving without care and using the hard shoulder in Somerset.

The driver, who was initially caught carelessly driving through Somerset, was spotted driving without due care near Bridgwater. Just six days later, the same driver was seen driving down the hard shoulder of the M5 near Highbridge.

Dashcam footage on the M5 was captured and the driver was given fines of more than £900 for both offences. They have also been hit with a driving ban for six months.

Avon and Somerset Police Roads Safety Team said: "This same driver was caught driving without due care near Bridgwater and then just six days later was seen driving on the hard shoulder of the M5 Highbridge!

"#JourneyCam combined result of both offences saw them receive more than £900 in fines/costs and a disqualification for six months."
