Caring Immingham school pupils on a mission to help North East Lincolnshire's homeless
Caring pupils at an Immingham school came together to help people who are homeless in North East Lincolnshire. Students took the lead in organising festive fundraising events to bring in much-needed cash for a local charity.
The Oasis Academy Immingham pupils arranged a Christmas fair to bring in cash for Grimsby charity Harbour Place. The event featured a variety of games for all interests, such as “Pin the nose on the Reindeer,” a “Guess the number of sweets in the jar” competition, bake sales, and football shoot-outs.
Through their hard work and creativity, the students managed to raise £560. The cash will support Harbour Place's work to help homeless individuals and those at risk of homelessness across North East Lincolnshire.

The charity also operates a night shelter and outreach team, providing essential support to help people find safe and stable accommodation.
In addition to the fundraising efforts, the academy collected several boxes of warm clothes to be donated to those in need this winter.
James Clayton and Jessica Burnette, community engagement officers from Harbour Place, were presented with the generous contributions at the academy this week. They previously visited in December to educate the student leaders on homelessness and expressed their heartfelt thanks to the academy community for their support.
Principal Sara McCloughlin said: "I am incredibly proud of our student leaders for organising such a successful event. It’s a fantastic example of the generosity and compassion that our students consistently show.
"By supporting Harbour Place, we’ve not only raised vital funds but also helped provide warmth and comfort to those who need it most. This event truly reflects the strong sense of community and kindness that we foster here at Oasis Academy Immingham.”
Operations manager Hannah Bown, who provided guidance to the students throughout the fundraiser, said: “Thanks to the funds raised from our recent Christmas fair, student leaders proudly presented a cheque to Harbour Place helping to support those in need in our community.
"This achievement is a wonderful reminder of the power of teamwork and generosity. We’re so proud of their efforts to make a positive impact."
