Carlo Ancelotti 'ready' to hand Real Madrid dream gig to Stockport County No2 in incredible move
Stockport assistant coach Andy Mangan is reportedly set to land a dream role alongside Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
The former striker - who had a brief spell as interim boss of EFL League One club Bristol Rovers last year - never played higher than the English fourth tier during his playing career between 2003 and 2018, notably turning out for the likes of Wrexham, Fleetwood Town and Tranmere Rovers.
Mangan has worked as No2 to former Premier League and one-time Rangers midfielder Joey Barton at both Fleetwood and Bristol Rovers, but according to The Athletic, the 38-year-old will now become a part of the coaching staff at the biggest club on the planet after striking up a friendship with Ancelotti's' son Davide - who serves as assistant manager to the legendary Italian boss.
The source adds that the reigning Champions League and La Liga champions have been on the hunt for an experienced English coach and that Mangan fits the bill. They also claim that Davide Ancelotti, 35 - who previously worked as number two to his father at Napoli Bayern Munich and Everton - will then look to take Mangan with him when he pursues his own career in management further down the line.
The ex-forward is currently awaiting the grant of a work permit before he jets off to the continent. Should Mangan land the dream gig, he will follow in the footsteps of fellow Englishman Paul Clement - who was on Ancelotti's coaching staff at Bayern, Paris Saint-Germain and Madrid in his first spell in the Spanish capital.
