BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood left viewers in hysterics this morning after she accidentally said there were lots of "doggers" in Greenwich Park.

"What a view we have," Ms Kirkwood said as she gave this morning's weather forecast from the park in south east London.

She added: "Fabulous! The sun is beating down, we've seen lots of doggers."

Ms Kirkwood was quick to correct her slip of the tongue, adding: "Not doggers of course... lots of dog walkers and joggers."

BBC viewers appeared to be delighted by the mishap and shared their reactions on Twitter.

One Twitter user said: "Did make me cough up my cornflakes this morning!" as they thanked Ms Kirkwood for making their Monday a "little brighter".

Another said they couldn't stop giggling after hearing the forecast.

After Ms Kirkwood's slip-up, Greenwich Park began trending on Twitter with the hashtags #BBCBreakfast and #doggers.

Ms Kirkwood later tweeted: "That will teach me to try and say joggers and dog walkers in the same sentence!!! Sorry!"

BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker also made light of the blunder, adding: "Reasons to love Carol number 472 #Joggers. Recovered like a pro. I don’t think anyone even noticed #BBCBreakfast."
