Carol McGiffin's sister has been diagnosed with terminal cancer

Less than a year ago, Loose Women star Carol McGiffin was given the all-clear from breast cancer following gruelling treatment, including chemotherapy.

However, Carol, 56, has now been left devastated after finding out that her younger sister, Tracey, 53, has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Tracey found a lump in her breast three months ago but has tragically been told that it isn’t treatable because it has already spread through her body.

Speaking to Best magazine, a heartbroken Carol explained: “I don’t think Tracy wants to know how long she has left, although the doctors could probably say.

“We’re in uncharted water, but she’s trying to be positive. We all are.”

Attempting to make light of the situation, Tracey quipped that when she found a lump in her breast she was worried about “copying” her big sister – again.

She told the magazine: “When I found a lump in my left breast this August, I actually thought ‘Here we go. I’m copying her again’. How I wish that were true.

“I know that, for once in her life, my sister would have given anything for me to have copied her.

“But, despite the devastating news, and for as long as I have left, we have grown closer.”

Although there is no way of overcoming the cancer completely, Tracey is undergoing chemotherapy in a bid to slow down how quickly the cancer takes her life, but she is not letting the treatment stop her from completing her bucket list and she is adamant that she will enjoy an amazing last Christmas with her loved ones.

Carol explained: “Let’s just say that my Christmas wish is for my sister to have the best time ever, and to really make the most of the time she has left, because, above all, I don’t want her to have any regrets.”

We hope that Carol, Tracey and the rest of their family have the most spectacular Christmas ever in light of the tragic news.
