Carol Vorderman will return to the hit BBC comedy show Have I Got News For You?

The 62-year-old will appear on the hit BBC quiz show — which talks about current affairs and the state of Britain — as a panel member in an upcoming episode.

She last appeared on the satirical show, which features long-term panellists and show captains Ian Hislop and Paul Merton, 17 years ago.

The former Countdown star has hit headlines recently for her political views after her menopause campaigning.

Vorderman got in a Twitter row with women’s minister Maria Caulfield last month over a Government menopause hearing, which the minister did not attend. She revealed she had been blocked by Caulfield and called on her to ‘show some respect and resign’.

Vorderman accused Maria Caulfield of not being “bothered to turn up” to the committee hearing.

Caulfield took to Twitter a day after the Women and Equalities Committee session to say she had been unable to attend as she was with campaigners at a meeting “which had been in the diary for months”.

The MP, who is also minister for women’s health strategy, tweeted that she was “not a punch bag” and said anyone who posted “misleading information” about her would be blocked on the social-media platform.

It is expected Vorderman will be as vocal on her political views in her slot on the BBC One show.

The quiz show sees two teams plus a guest panelist for each, answering questions relating to news stories published in the week leading up to the episode’s broadcast. The new series will run for 10 episodes.

When will Carol appear on the show and how can I watch?

Vorderman’s return will air on Friday, May 26, and will see her joined by a host of other famous faces for the laugh-a-minute show. Also slated to appear at the same time is Britain’s Got Talent finalist Nabil Abdulrashid.

It is shown weekly on BBC One on a Friday night but, if you can’t catch it live, there is no need to worry. All episodes can be streamed and watched online for free via BBC iPlayer.
