Caroline Flack arrested and charged with assault after incident in north London

Love Island host Caroline Flack has been arrested and charged with assault.

The presenter, 40, was involved in an incident in north London in the early hours of Thursday morning, according to the Metropolitan Police.

Officers were called to the scene in Islington at 5.25am after reports of a man, no further details, was assaulted. He was not seriously injured.

She was charged with assault by beating today (Friday, December 13).

A spokesman for the Met added: "She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, December 23."

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called yesterday (Thursday 12 December) at 5.28am to a residential address in Islington.

"We treated two people at the scene and took one person to hospital.”

No further details have been given about the incident.

Flack is due to fly out to South Africa in a few weeks for the launch of Winter Love Island - the spin-off to the highly successful summer series.

As part of her role on Love Island she also hosts Love Island: Aftersun, where contestants who leave the villa discuss their time on the show.

Flack has previously presented The X Factor and its spin-off show, The Xtra Factor.

A spokesman for Caroline Flack said in a statement: “We confirm that police attended Caroline’s home following a private domestic incident.

“She is co-operating with the appropriate people to resolve matters. We will not be making any further comment for legal reasons.”

A spokesman for ITV declined to comment when contacted by Standard Online.
