Caroline Flack has defended her latest presenting venure - fronting a show handing out cosmetic surgery.

The 39-year-old Love Island presenter has been unveiled as the host of new Channel 4 show The Surjury, which will offer participants the chance to achieve their dream appearance through free cosmetic enhancement.

Flack announced the news on her Instagram account and was flooded with messages, some offering congratulations, others questioning the ethics of such a show.

But the presenter reassured her followers it will be handled the right way “100 per cent.”

@bigrobbie89 commented: “I love you but this show is going to be super controversial.... I hope it’s handled in the right way and can be a conversation and potential education and not as a “freak show” to put people down or trivialise plastic surgery. I will reserve judgment for the time being.”

Flack replied: “100 percent I’ve worked on it and I’ve learned so much about personal choice xx [sic]”

The former Xtra Factor presenter originally declared she was “Over the Mooooooon to be hosting my first @channel4show #thesurjury [sic]”

The Surjury is now advertising for people to take part in the new series, promising to make "surgical dreams come true" with free cosmetic prosedures.

Flack was asked her thoughts on cosmetic surgery in an interview with Celebs Now in 2018.

She said: “I don’t have any judgements. You get your hair cut or whiten your teeth, so what’s the problem if it makes you feel confident?”

Flack - who split from fiance Andrew Brady last summer - recently said she would not go on another reality show because she thinks it could ruin her love life.

She said: "I worked on the Jungle for two years hosting the ITV2 spin-off show [I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here NOW!] and I can safely say you would not get me in there.

"I'd probably be voted out first night. I'm not very good with creepy-crawlies, water or heights.

"The more reality TV I do, the less of a potential wife I'd become."
