Carpet Python Rescued From Inside Car Engine in Queensland

A carpet python was rescued from the inside of a car engine on September 21 by a snake catcher who happened to come across the scene on the side of a road in Eumundi, Queensland.

The animal was clipped by a passing truck while attempting to cross the road, causing it to rush for refuge inside the car of a man who had pulled over to watch the snake’s movements.

Luke Huntley, the local snake catcher, said he was called over to help by bystanders who recognized him, and he quickly got to work on the hour long removal from the piping hot engine.

Huntley said the python was “pretty active” once it was freed from the vehicle, and was brought to a nearby wildlife rehabilitation centre. Credit: Luke Huntley via Storyful
