Carrie Coon Was Almost Unrecognizable in a Blonde Bob On the Emmys Red Carpet
Carrie Coon may spend her screentime as Mrs. Russell on The Gilded Age decked out in the period's most elaborate finery, but tonight she's proving shoe's no slouch when it comes to modern-era glam either.
The actress, who is nominated tonight in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category, walked the Emmys red carpet looking anything-but-outdated in a gown by Thom Browne. The dress mixed shades of cream and grey for a masculine-feminine mashup: a blazer-eque button-up top with sharp tailoring and contrasting panels, juxtaposed with a flowing, ribbon-like cream skirt. Coon, who also swapped Mrs. Russell's signature coiffed brown curls for a sleek, jaw-skimming, platinum bob, topped off the look with Briony Raymond gems and simple nude pumps. Her makeup was pared back, with dark liner and coarl lips on top of glowing skin prepped with products by G.M. Collin.
After she was nominated at the 2024 Emmys back in July, Coon said, "Today is especially gratifying because The Gilded Age returned to production last week for a season three that exists only because so many people watch and love the show, and I want to thank our champions at HBO for giving us another round."
The series, which is set to return in 2025, received 6 nominations this year, including Coon's lead actress nod as well as an Outstanding Supporting Actress nomination for Christine Baranski, and a nomination for Oustanding Drama Series.
