Carrie Fisher, who died on Dec. 27 at age 60, a few days after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles, is undoubtedly best known for her role as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, but her stamp on the movies of the past four decades go far beyond that signature character. Her long and varied career since the mid-’70s includes supporting roles in landmark big-screen comedies of the ’80s like The Blues Brothers and When Harry Met Sally…, her screenplay for the adaptation of her own book, Postcards from the Edge, and more fondly remembered favorites.
