This was the dramatic scene after a car overturned in a late night crash on an east London high street.

Police were called to Leyton High Road at 3am after two vehicles collided, sending one skidding across the pavement on its side.

Photos of the aftermath taken by a passer-by show the black vehicle lying on its side, surrounded by smashed glass and scattered debris.

Police tape blocks off the scene of carnage while another car is lifted on to a truck to be driven away.

The London Ambulance Service was called to the collision, near the junction with Warren Road, but no-one suffered life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

The busy high street, minutes from Leyton Orient’s Matchroom stadium, was temporarily closed by police and several bus routes had to be diverted.

A Met police spokesman said: “We were called at 3.01am to reports of two cars involved in a collision and one that had overturned.”

They also confirmed that no arrests were made.
