Cars parked up on a city estate have been left covered in mud and soil after an area of grass was 'churned up'. And locals in Bentilee believe it was caused by nuisance bikers who have been plaguing the area.

An image shared with StokeonTrentLive shows a number of vehicles covered in dirt after last night's incident. Residents believe it was caused by bikes churning up some adjoining grass.

One local told StokeonTrentLive: "It was either an electric bike or motorbike using their wheels to throw mud all over cars on Dividy Road.

"Nothing like this has happened before but you do see gangs of kids on motorbikes or electric bikes going around the street so it was only a matter of time before something like this happened.

"They also came back swearing at the residents and had their faces covered with balaclavas."

The issue around off-road bikes in the city is an ongoing issue for both the police and council. Staffordshire Police's road crime team (RCT) had previously looked to tackle their use by having their own cops use off-road bikes and utilise drones.

The police and Stoke-on-Trent City Council are continuing with the Operation Transom initiative to tackle nuisance bikers - and seize them.

Anyone with concerns should call the force on 101.
