The Cartier Racing Awards have been European racing’s definitive awards since 1991.

Now in its landmark 27th year, the much acclaimed Cartier Racing Awards were unveiled in tremendous style at the ballroom of The Dorchester Hotel.

A unique event which sees the best of European horseracing gather to celebrate the top horses of 2017.

Most of the prizes go not to the trainers or jockeys but to the horses themselves. Star filly Enable won the Cartier Horse Of The Year and the Cartier Three-Year-Old Filly Awards. Owned by Khalid Abdullah, trained by John Gosden in Newmarket and ridden by the inimitable Frankie Dettori.

The Hon. Harry Herbert, Cartier Racing Consultant, was on hand to entertain guests with tremendous anecdotes about his role in the sport. One involving a very unimpressed Belarusian prime minister who quizzed him on Olympic Dressage law changes in 2012, which he admittedly knew nothing about.

His daughter Frankie Herbert, one of Tatler's "Roses" came to support attracting a younger crowd than previous years with guests including Hum Fleming, Lady Alice Manners - who was mixing work and pleasure as she was on duty as Fashion Columnist for the Telegraph, Otis Ferry, Isabel getty and Sabrina Percy. Olympian Victoria Pendleton also attended in an amazing menswear inspired white tie ensemble.

The high profile guests were treated to a wonderful display of soft purple edged hydrangeas, dusky pink orchids and roses with a touch of fresh greens by John Carter and enjoyed a menu of Wild Halibut and a incredibly Instagram-able caramelised Bramley Apple Tart created by the Dorchester's team.
