Casey Affleck Recalls Sharing Birthdays with Brother Ben Growing Up: 'One Party Between the Two of Us'
Casey Affleck turns 49 on Aug. 12, while his older brother Ben Affleck turns 52 on Aug. 15
Casey Affleck and older brother Ben Affleck had to combine their birthday spotlights growing up.
While Casey, who turns 49 on Aug. 12, spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the New York City premiere of his new movie The Instigators on July 31, the actor pointed out that his family had shared birthday celebrations for him and Ben, who turns 52 on Aug. 15, during their childhood.
"We had to, all growing up," Casey recalled. "We got one birthday party between the two of us."
The Oscar winner added that he and Ben have not necessarily kept that tradition going in adulthood. "Once we had kids, my birthday became not so important, you know? And it was always about them," Casey said. "But now that they're moving out of the house, maybe I should reclaim that. I'm throwing myself a birthday party!"
Casey has two sons, Indiana, 20, and Atticus, 16, with his ex-wife Summer Phoenix, whom he was married to from 2006 until their 2016 split. He is currently dating actress Caylee Cowan, who also costars with him and the Afflecks' longtime friend Matt Damon in the new heist movie.

"I got two more years of my youngest son at home, so I'm trying to spend that time with him," Casey told ET, when asked how he wants to spend his time before he turns 50 in 2025.
"Career-wise, I really just want to keep working with people I love and some people I've not had a chance to work with, but focus less on trying to climb the ladder, trying to achieve things, and focus more on personal work and my own challenges that I want to work on and work with people I like and have a good time."
Casey and Damon filmed The Instigators — which also features Hong Chau, Michael Stuhlbarg, Paul Walter Hauser, Ving Rhames, Alfred Molina, Toby Jones, Jack Harlow and Ron Perlman — in their hometown, which Casey admitted made for some special moments while filming.
"I'm not gonna lie, I've been doing this for 38 years and had a lot of ups and downs and I worked hard, but still, when I was standing on set, I felt really lucky, you know?" he told ET. "It's in my hometown, working with people I love, working with new people I'd admired for a long time, doing what I like to do and making a living."
The Instigators is on Apple TV+ Aug. 9.
