Casting chaos leaves Married At First Sight extra special reunion 'in shambles'
Fans of Married At First Sight should brace themselves for even more drama from the current cast of contestants - even though the 2024 season has now finished. The bonkers E4 reality dating show - which sees strangers swap vows as part of a blind date when they first meet - has been showing for nine seasons, with the 2024 instalment providing even more drama and arguments than usual.
The show came to an end on Tuesday night with a reunion special which brought the contestants back together and revealed, finally, which of the couples were still together. But now a report has suggested the current cast are being rounded up again this week to film another special which is anticipated to air next year, reports MirrorOnline.
The filming process is taking place a year after cameras wrapped on the current season - which didn't begin screening on TV until September. But it has been stated that the plans to make the reunion special are being hampered by the fact a number of cast members have refused to take part - while others have been denied the chance to come back.

It is therefore unclear which of the 2024 contestants will appear in the special spin-off. A source told The Sun: “MAFS UK has been high on scandal this year with the sheer amount of messy splits and bust-ups, perhaps more than ever. Bosses thought it was worth revisiting some of the cast to see how their lives have changed 12 months on from filming the experiment.
“However, preparation for the special episode has been marred by a few of the cast members kicking off because they were not invited to appear despite playing starring roles in the series.” The Mirror has contacted Channel 4 for comment.
The most recent season of the chaotic E4 show has been even more shambolic than usual as numerous participants have flouted the rules. The show is filmed months before it is filmed, with an expectation the cast won't reveal if they have split with their partner or not until the last episode of the season airs. However, a series of spoilers were leaked by the cast themselves ahead of the final episode of the season - including accusations that scenes had been faked for dramatic effect.
Brummie bride Sacha took aim at the E4 show after a sneak peek clip showed her seemingly explode at another contestant. But she has argued that the incident has been edited to make her look bad. Hitting out via social media, she raged: "OMG already fuming with the edit for final vows... I can't write here now why I was crying but it was to do with them ruining a surprise I had for Ross. As if they've done me that dirty.... Absolutely disgusting they'd do that to me." Fans have also noted that Sacha and Ross unfollowed each other on social media weeks ago and he has been declaring his love for another woman.
Amy Kenyon-Brown has also accused the show of editing scenes to create a false narrative. While fielding questions from fans online, she was asked whether she and husband Luke got to choose which gifts they gave each other on dates. But she claimed: "We did yes! I got Luke this photo in a frame as it was our happiest time. I told him I wished we could go back to this moment. That didn't get shown unfortunately."
