Casualty has confirmed the return of Michael Stevenson's Ian Dean in a brand new Christmas video.

In the festive footage released by the BBC today (December 17), the cast of the long-running medical soap share how they've been spending their time in lockdown, before Ethan Hardy actor George Rainsford nostalgically walks around the empty set.

As he stands outside the accident and emergency entrance, he's knocked by a massive Christmas character being pushed along by Stevenson.

"Mike?!" says George. "You're back?"

Stevenson replies: "We're all back."

The pair then head into the hospital, where they're greeted by the entire cast who are dancing around in Christmas attire.

The show seemingly said its goodbyes to the character of Iain Dean back in September when the popular paramedic left the ED to pursue a new career.

At the time, Stevenson himself told Digital Spy that the door had been left open for him to return "at some point" in the future, but for now he needed some time away from the show.

However, it seems that return has come quicker than expected, as the actor is once again part of the cast that'll return in January 2021.

In an interview with the Daily Star, the actor said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be back with the Casualty family. I am excited to crack on and see what's in store for Iain!”

Casualty returns on Saturday January 2, 2021, airing on BBC One.
