Casualty spoilers follow.

Casualty has confirmed that Leon Cook is departing the show, and fans don't have to wait long at all to see his final scenes – as they're set to air this coming weekend.

The synopsis for this Saturday's (May 1) episode explains that Leon loses out on the paramedic job to Iain Dean, who recently made his return in the midst of Jan Jennings' drug dealing storyline.

After feeling dejected, Leon decides to leave the hospital and heads off to get more experience, but is hopeful that he will hopefully return one day.

Digital Spy understands that it's a permanent exit at the moment with the door open for a possible return, but there aren't thought to be any specific plans for that just yet.

Wolfblood actor Bobby Lockwood only joined the show earlier this year as Leon, with series producer Loretta Preece praising the actor for having "the most extraordinary comic timing".

It's definitely a shame for fans that he's only been on Casualty for such a short time, but at least the character isn't being killed off and gets to say a proper goodbye.

Last weekend saw some harrowing scenes air on the BBC soap, as Jade Lovall was attacked on a night out and wondered if she had been targeted because she is deaf.

Viewers praised the powerful performance from actor Gabriella Leon, as well as the show for raising awareness of date rape.

Casualty airs on Saturday nights on BBC One.
