Casualty hints at Elle Gardner exit as she gets big news

Casualty will hint at an exit for Elle Gardner as she shares some big news with David Hide this weekend.

Saturday's episode (April 20) will see an excited Elle (Jaye Griffiths) tell David that she's been offered an interview for a Clinical Lead at another hospital.

Having successfully stepped up as Acting Clinical Lead during Connie Beauchamp's recent absence, it's clear that Elle is thrilled by the opportunity.

Although David is pleased for Elle, she swears him to secrecy for the time being – desperate for the news not to get back to Connie.

With Elle clearly contemplating a life away from Holby, fans will have to wait and see whether she lands the position or not and what this means for her future on the show.

But given that she's struck up a firm friendship with Connie in the last few months, how will Connie react if she does decide to leave?

That remains to be seen, but it's been announced this week that Connie will be taking some time out from the ED later in the year anyway.

Amanda Mealing, who plays the popular character, is taking a break from the show after an action-packed five years for the fan favourite. Her exit scenes will air over the summer, though she's due to return to filming in the autumn.

Casualty continues on Saturday, April 20 at 8.20pm on BBC One.
