Casualty newcomer Anna Chell has revealed the aftermath of Max and Jodie's twist storyline.
Anna's character Jodie Whyte was recently introduced as one of the the ED's newest recruits, with Saturday's (April 8) drama-filled episode leaving her – and a certain clinical lead – reeling.
In a shock twist, it was revealed that Jodie is Max Cristie's estranged daughter, although Jodie made it clear that she wants nothing to do with him.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about the storyline, Anna admitted that she instantly knew she wanted to bring Jodie to life after reading her backstory, before giving fans a little insight into what they can expect to see from this father/daughter duo.
"Max and Jodie navigate their way through work battling a huge mix of emotions/feelings. There’s so much under the surface that hasn’t been addressed," she teased.
"Deep down she longs for a father figure to look after her, but is her ego too big to let him in? Is she too hurt? Does she know the history of Max and her mum?"
On working with Nigel Harman, who made his debut as Max back in February, Anna shared: "There is SO much more to be explored and working with Nigel Harman is fab, we always have a laugh and I know if I need any reassurance, Nigel will always be there.
She shared: "I’m very grateful to be working alongside him."
While Anna didn't give away any specific details about how Max and Jodie's storyline unfolds, she teased: "This story for me highlights some very important themes; for example, love, loss, separation, grief, longing & abandonment.
"I think it will resonate with a lot of people! You’ll have to stay tuned to find out how the story of Max and Jodie goes!"
Casualty airs on Saturdays on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer.
