Casualty doctor Rash Masum said farewell to the ED tonight (April 20), but don't worry – he'll be back.

Rash decided to leave the ED in tonight's episode after realising that he wanted to travel the world before committing to a career in medicine.

While Rash's exit will naturally have left fans wondering if it's the last we'll see of him, we can confirm that it definitely won't be.

Digital Spy understands that actor Neet Mohan took a break earlier this year, with Rash's temporary departure coinciding with that.

Viewers know that Rash has spent the last few weeks planning a trip of a lifetime with his girlfriend Gem, but their plans were put on hold due to Iain's ongoing struggles.

When Gem realised that she couldn't leave Iain at the moment, Rash was forced to park his travelling plans too, but an unexpected turn of events is about to prompt him to follow his dreams regardless.

As Rash struggled with the reality of staying at Holby for another year, his world was turned upside when his mum is brought into the ED with a suspected heart attack.

Although Rash is relieved to hear that his is expected to make make a full recovery, he was furious to learn that she'd stolen his passport to stop him from leaving.

Realising how unhappy Rash was – both in his professional and personal life – Gem urged Rash to put himself first for a change and explore the world on his own.

Accepting that she was right, Rash made the life-changing decision to head abroad solo and said an emotional goodbye to Gem.

We can also confirm that Neet is already back filming with the show, with his return scenes due to air later in the year.

Casualty continues on Saturday, April 28 on BBC One.
